What's on our minds . . .

Well, perhaps the best way to summarize would be with a short story.

When Ray was a very small boy some one, some how, convinced him to go to Sunday School at a church in Venezuela.  There he met a Sunday School teacher who managed, over time, to encourage a young group of boys and girls to memorize the 23rd Psalm.

This was to be the main religious training Ray had.  Oh, he attended churches and that sort of thing but the 23rd Psalm was the only part of God's words that ever got inside him.  The rest kinda bounced off him and had no lasting effect.

About 40 years later Ray escaped death by drowning in large surf  and, while waiting for the ambulance to take him to the hospital and lapsing in and out of consciousness, the words "even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I am with you" came back to him.  It was the only life raft he had to get through the intense pain.

Two months later he opened the Bible and it fell open to Psalm 66.  He read about being in rebellion against God and within a week had such a direct and personal experience with the Living God that these words, 11 years later, are difficult to write.

Several years later the concept of this web site was birthed while he was listening to a man named George Barna speak about the number of people by the year 2010 who would be like Ray and rarely enter a church or worry much about it either!

What should the web site be called?  Something from Psalm 66?  No . . .
Psalm 23?  Definitely!

So, he read from the NIV translation the words "he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul" and the web site which complimented the existing ministry began.

QuietWaters Ministries exists to testify that our personal rebellion against God can be forgiven and our lives changed forever by the one and only Son of God, Jesus Christ, who is alive; who rose from the dead, and will be found by us once we desire to look for Him with all our heart. <Jeremiah 29:13>

I sure am glad that God is patient!

As of January, 2005, we have begun a second focus upon children (in addition to adults) with an active association with Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Almost forgot . . .for that Sunday School teacher I faintly remember so many, many  years ago who never got to see the seed germinate and grow but was faithful to plant::
 I love you.
I wonder how many others from that small class found the peace of God that resists all attempts to fully describe or understand?
