What's on our minds . . .Welcome to QuietWaters web site.  You've landed at Joan's page and we're glad you're here!

Joan has been an educator her whole career and in recent years has focused on teaching Kindergarten as well as mentoring new student teachers.  She began her career in special education in a summer camp for special needs children and young adults as well and has continued her career in public school teaching to the present time.  She has been a presenter (speaker) at various early childhood conferences in New England.  She has also taught Sunday School, children's church, and Vacation Bible School
.  Teaching continues to be her great joy and she considers it a  privilege to have been entrusted with so many children over the years: to have loved them, helped them when they fell down, and encouraged them when they stood back up.
Joan has a Bachelor of Science in Education along with many postgraduate courses as well as a number of certifications in her field from the State of Rhode Island. She has previously served as a Stephen Minister and, most recently, has served her suburban church as Chair of Christian Education and as a kindergarten teacher.  Joan loves puppets, dogs, cats, hermit crabs and birds!

February marked a milestone in Joan's career:  Joan was out of the classroom due to a required school workshop for teachers.  Her class room substitute was a certified teacher who was once one of Joan's Kindergarten students in that same room!

Joan's dad was a Christian Minister and Joan has loved Jesus all her life.  It shows in her face, doesn't it?
