What's on our minds . . .

March 23, 2009:  Ray currently ministers at the Providence Rescue Mission by speaking in Chapel once a month.  He previously lead a prayer meeting on Mondays, a Bible Study on Tuesdays and taught Discipleship classes twice a week.
He is a founding co-director of the Rhode Island Men of Hope, a mission ministry to men. He has brought  the Good News at nursing homes, churches, dinners, in the streets as well as community outreach events, in work places and occasionally serves, as time permits, in a pulpit supply role.  He has served and been an active member of the same Church since 1996.  Ray's favorite activity in church has been teaching 3rd & 4th grade Sunday School and seeing children turn from being initially bored by the Bible to having an excitement and God given desire to learn more. In January 2005 we expanded ministry activities by partnering with Child Evangelism Fellowship® of Rhode Island where Ray and Joan are full time field workers.

Before joining CEF, Joan was principally been involved with Children's Ministry in churches.  Joan has served in many areas in Christian Education, in leadership, in teaching children and mentoring teachers.  In 2009 we continue serving in many areas but are now increasing focused on working with children.

God has used many churches ministering at the Providence Rescue Mission (as well as at similar Gospel Missions around the world) to turn men, women and children back to Himself.  It's a great privilege and honor to serve these fine men, women and children who often initially come in the door tired, beaten down, hungry, and hurting; and then to see some of them walk out changed by the power of the Living God.

The Prophet Isaiah had this to say a few years ago: "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?  Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.  Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. <58:6-9>
