What's on our minds . . .
Welcome to the QuietWaters web site.  You've landed at Ray's page and I'm glad you're here!

My favorite sport is surfing and I've been an avid year round (ocean) surfer in Rhode Island from 1992 until the present time.  In recent years the cities of Rhode Island have been in my focus: to bring the Good News of God's reconciliation and peace to the city where many doors are open and there are people who are hungry to understand the purpose of their lives.

Now . . .

Then . . .

Many want to know what happens when they die, why there is so much violence in the world and why drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex and pornography do not satisfy the longing each of us has inside our hearts for significance and acceptance. The answer is that there is a God created vacuum within each of us that the world and its attractions cannot fill.  Beauty is skin deep, alcohol gives you (or those around you) a headache, drugs will eat you up, reading the paper or watching the news will give you an attitude.  Possessions rust out or wear out. Those 2009 model vehicles look good now but they will dent up and wear out too soon.

The answer is God - he wants to give you a beatitude, not an attitude. For example: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."  Jesus said that.  Check it out in the Bible - Matthew, chapter 5, sentence 8.  There's more there.

When he's not surfing, Ray works:

  • as the Rhode Island State Ministry Coordinator for Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF)
  • as a teacher/trainer/encourager to those called to bring Good News to children
  • as an itinerant preacher of the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ

Ray is a member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions - Chaplain's Track,  is on the Board of Directors of CEF-RI as well as the Rhode island Men of Hope, has completed the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association "First Responder Crisis Training" course held in Warwick, RI and is a recent graduate of the Children's Ministry Institute® of Child Evangelism Fellowship® in Missouri.

In 1994 I had a near fatal surfing accident and 2 months later had such a vivid personal life changing experience with the Living God of the Universe that I gave up all religion and began a new relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  If this statement is confusing to you, ask me about it here.  I had planned on living quietly in the suburbs, reading a novel or two by the wood stove and surfing off into the sunset and then discovered that my agenda was to be subservient to God's.

Do you realize that it is already?  How quickly time passes.  Have you told everyone around you - whether your spouse, children, family, or friends - that you love them?  When is the last time you did this; said the words "I love you" and meant it?  If it has been a while, why not do it   You may never have another opportunity.  While you're at it, give them a hug too.

Colossians 4:3-4
