John 3:16

Sept. 11, 2001

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live.
Deuteronomy 4:9

Did you know that both the RI State Flag and State Seal have an "Anchor" and the word "Hope" in them?  These two items come from the Holy Bible in the Book of Hebrews, chapter 6, verse 19 where it says "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." The "hope" and "anchor" are one and the same:
 The Lord Jesus Christ.

Surf Cams :-(

"Surf cam" - a live or frequently updated video picture from a camera pointed at a local surf break and broadcast over the Internet

We've given a lot of thought to surf cams recently and have finally come to a definite opinion about them; hence this short essay.  Maybe you should have the big picture first.  Here it is:

the 4th guy from the right made the wave

Left: Doin' the
Rhode Island Macarena
a local dance with a constantly changing blend of body english, standing up and falling down, ducking, bobbing and weaving, accompanied with loud shouts, heavy snorts, posturing and occasional heaving of deadly long and short missiles with
bad intent.

("R" rated for both language and violent behavior)

What "surf cams" in essence do is encourage too many people to show up at a favorite break all at the same time.  We really feel that surf cams are the prime contributor to overcrowding, localism, and surfers generally behaving badly at local surf breaks everywhere.
For this simple reason, beginning October 18, 1999, this web site will no longer link to local surf businesses which, to our knowledge, support surf cams.
