John 3:16

Sept. 11, 2001

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live.
Deuteronomy 4:9

Did you know that both the RI State Flag and State Seal have an "Anchor" and the word "Hope" in them?  These two items come from the Holy Bible in the Book of Hebrews, chapter 6, verse 19 where it says "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." The "hope" and "anchor" are one and the same:
 The Lord Jesus Christ.

Welcome to the fan and semi-fan mail page.  We have previously received and continually enjoy receiving a modest amount of mail from all over the world.  We bring you an edited sampling (not enough time to post all the letters) of it.  Enjoy!  Most recent mail is at the top . . . This page has been a little out of date (Nov. 22nd 2007) but perhaps we can again begin updating it again!

November 6, 2007 2:39 PM  I was feeling low with a muttering headache (we had a "cold front" come through, and grey skies and funky air pressure work me over) when I began reading your site. Thank you so much for being a bright spot in cyberworld, and spreading the Word. Even committed Christians need a lift and a reminder of His Grace. I was cheered by your style of writing as well. Many, many thanks! May God bless all of you with health, wealth, and perfect waves, and keep you in the Fellowship of His Word.  Yours sincerely, DD  (Thanks DD for your encouragement! - Ray 11.22.07)
Thursday, July 6, 2006 5:02 PM Great job with the site.  I can relate to early drives hoping to find something breaking at your secret spot. I don’t, however have to deal with full suits and freezing weather.  My problem is sewage in the water.  The spot I like to Surf is right near a village and the only public sewage system is the gutter that runs straight into the ocean. Im a missionary here in ************.  Im getting my kids into surfing little by little.  They love it.  I actually wanted to write and say that I am proud of your stand for what you believe in.  Its right there in the front of your site where it should be. God bless you guys, Take care, Bryan
Thursday, Sept 1, 2005 6:30 AM Hey, I respect your decision not not update your site during this summer. However, I feel compelled to write that maybe this was the wrong summer to choose. All my breaks have been very consistent this summer. Especially these past two weeks. I just hope you are out there enjoying it. ******* has been very nice as well. Check out this pic from ************ this mornin. It's goin off!!! Hey great site again by the way. Looking forward to fall updates!  --Frank
Sunday, July 25, 2004 5:36 PM Great web page.  I just found it by accident while cruising around on the web.  I moved to RI 3 years ago from colorado.  I started to surf here that winter that i moved in.  No one believes that we can surf here, but i say that it is some of the best surf around...especially when the * is goin off.  Anyways, just wanted to say i liked the page, and look forward to more pics from this upcoming huricane season.  Pray for surf....pray for snow...  Joshua Sklar
Re: X-Files #3 Thursday, May 16, 2002 11:08 AM Ray was that a dream or something ??? any waves today ?? maybe the beach has a small knee high wave ???? fri.- sat. looks like a little swell .. !!!!! see ya out there !!!!!!
We'll pull the limo over next time we see ya and  you can jump in , and well zoom to the next secret spot.  Aloha - Bob (X-Files #3 feedback)
Wednesday, April 24, 2002 3:23 PM Still wet from an early morning session at Malibu.  A "poor" day for us, three to four, dolphins and whales everywhere.  The locals started bitching when the sun ducked behind the clouds.  After having viewed the photos of you guys entombed in dry suits, I had to laugh.  You are what surfing is all about man.  One thing lacking in your pics were the crowds!  How cool to not have to fight for a wave.  Anyway, from the west coast I'm tipping my hat to you hearty R.I. kooks.  Rock on. . . Atstyle
Thursday, March 28, 2002 6:39 PM  Come on......make a surf map to all the breaks along your 20 miles of magic. Tell everyone where and when to go..... Then you go somewhere else.....it's that simple!!!!!! Score waves to yourself all day long. Get your buddy to put a shark suit on and let's clear out the line-ups. There are no secrets....all you need is a satelite image....a brain....a mini-gun .... wet suit.....a car....and some serious motivation......Hmmmmm like triple-overhead  ******* during the Issac swell ok maybe bring the full Rhino Chaser for that mission!!!! Nah I think I'll take ****** ***** in a nice Easterly swell with some NE winds....yep that'll do it. Or maybe *********...... or the reefs around the **** ******* ****...... Ahhh so many choices. Hmmm couple spots round ******** ***......maybe venture a bit further East and really discover that infact the surf in R.I. rivals the best of what Cali-polluted-fornia has to offer. All I know is that I am about 4 hours from where I wanna be. It's either a plane to Costa....or a plane to Cali.....or a minor drive to good ol' R.I. I guess I'd like to say thanks for posting quality reports and keeping the secrets alive. Good things come to those who seek! And you'll never know unless you go! Keep the stoke flowing in and out of the water! O yeah and pics would be nice but you and I both know the best pictures in the world can't transmit the pure stoke of just being there. I think you should keep the pics in the vault. Remember....Like Sheep, they (surfers) flock. Especially if they think the grass is greener on the other side!
Sincerely Stoked,  Randy Buzilow (A Pennsylvania Surfer) yep a lot of ocean in my state.....oooops I mean my state of mind! (thanks for the letter Randy)
Tuesday, February 19, 2002 5:56 PM  Hey Ray,  Just wanted to say it's good reading the updates of the surf.  I crashed my car a while ago, and i haven't surfed in like 2 months....NOT GOOD....U'd recognize me if u saw me, i'm the young kid who long boards named Nate, i usually surf w/ bobby and the older dudes but i've been out of the loop considering i live in C. when i don't have a car.  I should get my car back this Wed. or Thurs. so hopefully we'll have some good waves....I got a lot of riding to make up for all this missed winter surf.  Thanks for the site, and if u see Casino Bob tell him Nate said what's up, and to all the other guys too.  I'll be back in the line up in NO TIME.  The pics are always sweet too.  Peace  Nate  <Thanks for the note Nate. I need a photo editing session to get a new batch of pictures on the site. It seems that whenever I get that far into the "to do" list we have another surf event and the schedule "slips" again>

11/26/01  Hey Folks,
Just trying to get the word out. Gavin Casey, from Narragansett, had his mid 60's Dewey Weber Performer stolen. It's about 10' 2", has a hatchet fin, off-center leash plug. The deck color is a light yellow (sort of off-white). The deck nose area has a line that sections it off from the rest. It has a glassed in skeg box and has visible work on the nose and in a few other places. He told me this weekend that it was taken off his porch down in Matunuck recently. Please get the word out and if you see it in the water, try to get some info on the person with it if possible.  Thanks, Mark W <You're welcome Gavin and Mark>
10/28/01 This evening I came across the following note to my wife from late winter 2001: 6:00 AM.  20 degrees (F).  8" new snow.  Calm wind.  Buoy at 8'.   Hmmm.  Bye dear.
10/13/01 Why don't you keep the surf report updated?  Why have one if there isn't consistent information?  <Sorry and Good Question!  I was away from Rhode Island on a business trip the last 4 days and a long ways inland from salt water.  Last update Wednesday did mention 8' swells for the weekend and that was the case Saturday afternoon.>
10/02/01 Liked the <10/01/01> surf report.  And the comment about sunset, your right it was really insane, something out of the twilight zone.  Then the moon rising, unreal.  Here in Newport we surfed an hour past sunset.  I hear Narry today is still a solid shoulder.  Good to hear, its flat across the bay.  You guys always got it better.  Anyway score some waves today, and bring on the winter season.   Pat R
08/02/01 Some animals out there yesterday, Victor got a ding in his head, caught a fin to the head. I called him @ home last night he said he was ok, then Frank (grey van) last wave in somebody ran into him, nice ding in board. Bob's is gonna fix today. Cya out there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fred
07/23/01 Hello. We enjoyed your website! We live in Maryland and surf
Assateague Island, Ocean City and occasionaly make it to the Outer Banks in NC for a surf trip. We recently visited relatives in Connecticut and we love the general area. We have our summers free and would like to look into the possibility of renting an inexpensive place for a month or two next summer. Any suggestions of towns, rental agencies, insights, suggestions? We're a family of four (2 daughters) and a black lab. Thanks for any help you might toss our way!  Jessica and Alex <Try http://www.projo.com/realestate/ or http://www.oso.com/homes/realestate/realtor_bridge.html (search for "summer rentals" at top right of page).  Rhode Is. is a small state so everything is within a 45 minute drive from Providence.>
07/18/01 I'm going to be in RI for the rest of the summer and was really interested in learning to wind surf. I was wondering if you knew anywhere that gives lessons or anyone who gives private lessons. If you could get back to me that would be great. Have a great summer.  Mike  <What I would do is contact any dealer who sells equipment and ask them. A quick check of my local RI yellow pages shows no wind surfing entries so it looks like you need to go the surf (board) shop route. Try Watershed surf shop in Narragansett for starters.>

2nd request, from "That's my wave Fred". Stick to surfing, your wave predicting leaves a lot to be desired !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ray's new name XDr. Surf !!!! <May a sea gull caress you with its toes, May your board wax curdle and fly up your nose. While I was oot drivahin' aroound this AM looking at that solid shin high everywhere youse wuz sittin at home banging oot complaints on a keyboard.  OK - you're in charge now. When will there be surf?>
01/09/01  8:24:43 AM Eastern Standard Time.  Dr. Surf,  Your mission, should you decide to take it: You and that wave sled need to get on out there and plug in that wave machine. <Dr> Fred has gotta bad case of the no surf DT's. This tape will destruct in 5 seconds. Aloha <while you were writing this encouragement I was already on the way to the water for a short but sweet plugged in wave machine session.  My "No Surf DTs" are gone.  Dr. Surf>
01/08/01  hey, I surfed sat. in the later afternoon, i checked everywhere. There were guys out at the **** but the waves were small, and too infrequent for how many guys were out. I drove over to ***** ****, and there were like knee to stomach high waves coming in. I surfed by myself for like 2 and a half hours in light off shore winds. I watched the sunset and the sky was orange-purple. It was a nice peaceful session in the water catching every little peeler that came through. It wasn't big but it was pretty fun. Just felt like sharing that little surf blurb. Hope to see u in the water in a big swell soon.  Nate  <What a great session!.  It sometimes really pays off when you head in the opposite direction that the crowds are heading doesn't it?>
12/22/00 (from the Internet)  It's been awhile since I have seen any of your posts.  I miss the chuckles I get when I read about your macho exploits. Man you are an impressive surfer. Pirouette's rule dude. You are a god to me.  So, come on you old geezer, tell me what's happening!
Are you still up at 7 AM hitting the road to brave those frigid temperatures to prove what an impressive dude you are?
Man, you are so admired!! Long live Ray!! The undisputed king of Rhode Island surf.  Just ask him, he will tell you. Or check the RIRider site where Ray exults in crowing about his bravado and great skill.  Hawaii Howling <Bravado and great skill?  Ha ha ha.  Thanks for making my day Senor <Senorita?) anony_mouse! Glad you're finally up to speed on the Pirouette.>

09/22/00  Hey guys i think that this is a great site for all people who surf RHODE ISLAND. I don't know if you guys ever go to block island but my family has a house there and the surf always seems to be good. I used to be just a boogie boarder and i still do that but i just recently got a surfboard and already i know that i wont get off it. I am always the first in the water and the last out. I guess my friends find it too cold or something. By the way this past wednesday was rippin in Newport i went down and it was the biggest surf ive seen all year. The only problem was gettin out there to catch a wave cause it was a pretty powerful day but i got at least 5 to 8 good rides. Lets hope for good surf on sunday too. Thanx for taking the time to read this.
Dooski
ps. Maybe ill see you guys in my journeys to breaks in Rhode Island. See you guys later <Have never surfed Block Island although a lot of people ask about conditions there.  Thanks for writing and thanks to everyone for all the other letters we've received this summer.  Have a little more time now to occasionally post them here.>
7/11/00 Ray, Just visited your site for the 1st time. Excellent job, but I'm not surprised. Great surfing with you last 2 day's. I'm sure I'll see you soon. Keep up the good work. Fred <Hi Fred - thanks for letting me have one of your waves yesterday!  It is excellent when a surprise swell shown up in July.  Always good to see you out on the water.>
07/11/00 nice site Ray i'm Josh a friend of Fred's and Jeff and Mike, Bob's Catch ya in the water soon!!!!!! <Hi Josh>
6/2/00  Hey guys, I ran into your website as I was trying to find some good info on NE surfing-it's a great site. I live in Florida during the summers and Christmas time, but I go to school in Boston. Needless to say, I miss the surfing a lot. I did not have a car freshman year, but this year I do, and I want to make it out to RI for some hurricane swell- I missed it all last year! What I need are some tips on where to go at certain conditions (swell size, tides, etc.), and also some good places to stay that aren't very expensive. When I make it out for the hurricane swells I'll be staying for a few days, school is secondary at that point. Anyway, great site and I'm happy to see that there are people who love surfing as much as you guys do. JHolm
05/15/00 Guys, I just moved up here form the NJ shore and I have been surfing only about 2 summers and I was hoping you could let me know of a couple of places where there is some good surfing, Besides ***** ***** ( my
first summer I went there and almost killed myself. Broken board and arm). Thanks Neil <Have been getting a lot of letters asking for the surf spots.  Check out johnw's 10/11/99 letter below.  Sorry to hear about the accident.  A lot of people surf the Town Beach in the summer . . .>
05/14/00  Just checkin out your site for the first time. Well done,I just want to
say we all have our own personal style of enjoying the surf, some on
boards some in yaks. I'm usually in my whitewater canoe and I'm very
enlightened to how rude 7 out of 10 other surfers can be,and thats while
I'm still on shore. Mike <Your letter made me smile!>
05/02/00  I stumbled upon your site this night after a glorious day at Leo Carrillo beach about a mile south of the legendary County Line L.A. God bless you guys, but it looks so @!#$ cold. I grew up surfing some of those breaks and I miss NE, but I was more than warm today in just a 3/2. No hood, booties, or nuttin'. The waves in your pics looked great. Now if you can do something about the water temp. I'll try RI in July when it's a little warmer...and flat. Keep riding!  Jeff <the waves are flat at present - summer flats have arrived.  Thanks for writing>
04/26/00  Think I may have seen you out in the water today (4/26)..... unfortunately, I'm healing up from a surfing wound inflicted on 4/22 <ouch> so didn't venture out. I do, however, have a humorous and most ominous story about a couple of groms I saw while passing through ***** ******.....
Here's the scene: Rain mixed with ice. Cold NE wind. Decent sized waves. A couple of college-aged kids from MA standing (on the wrong side--the choppy side--of *** *****, nonetheless) in nothing but trunks and rashguard. Didn't stay long enough to see if they actually went through with it, but I gave a disturbed laugh anyway.
The crowds are a comin'.....
Peace....see y'all out in the water soon. (Thanks for providing us with this site, by the way, its fun to watch--especially for those of us relatively land locked here in CT)     --Tyson
<sounds like Matt's story below (see 4/17 letter).  You may have both spotted the same guys at different times.  Glad you like the site. -Ray>
04/26/00  ok heres the deal. i am a sponger that lives in maryland. yes i will say that again, a sponger.sorry for breaking that news but i give 100% respect out to the surfers before me. but anyway next year i will be going to college in newport. i have been in RI my entire life for a total of 2 days so i know nothing of how you guys handle things up there. but you all gotta be some of the most hardcore ***** on earth.  and yes i will be one of those ***** for the next 4 years. so im asking you all a favor to tell me about some spot called big ruggles or somethin. and also what the vibe is kinda like up there with the surfers and spongers. and is a 5/4/3 warm enough? cuz the last thing i wanna do is look like a ****. where the **** am i getting at? basically just any info would help cuz i will be going big all year, even during small waves...thanks alot for your help whoevers readin this. id much rather stay at my home break but RI here i come...later        pat  <Hi pat.  Newport is a great spot to surf and Ruggles is near Newport.  The vibe is this - mean people draw other mean people to them.  Laid back people who hoot for anyone (including spongers) who catch a wave deep and cleanly have little problems.  The magazines focus on hassles but they are relatively rare if people know you. The deal is - people don't want to get hurt so don't do things that can hurt people (like dropping in). Be cool.  Pretty simple when you think about it!  Welcome to RI!>
04/19/00 Hey i was just wondering as i look at your site quite frequently if you surfed or surf kayak? I can't tell. I was out at **** and **** last Sunday. It was really good and there wasn't really anyone out. It was really nice to get at least one more perfect day without crowds before the warm weather gets here. Especially since the first "no rubber" man was spotted. I surfed a good 5 1/2 hrs. I was dead tired since my sessions haven't been over 3 hrs. since the beginning of the winter. Keep up the good work on the cite, i look forward to new pictures being posted here!!! Nate <surf kayak;  too many old injuries to surf the real way. Have some film of a mid March session but haven't gotten to "gittin it on the web" yet.  5 1/2 hours is amazing . . ."
Bonus Style Points awarded to Matt: 04/17/00 Hey Ray, guess what? Today, Monday 4/17, I watched a young man paddle his shortboard out in shorts and a rashguard, at 46 degrees with ne wind no less.
His session lasted about 2 minutes. His friend, on a bic in a suit with no booties lasted 2 minutes longer, amazing! I saw this at a break not in south county, but somewhere else in RI. So, guess i will see you wednesday morn. Peace,Matt  <Well Matt, looks like you get the style point award for spotting these kooks, er, surfers, first.  Well done!
The fact that these guys were even in the water without rubber shows that in Rhode Island we have no Girly-Men-Groms. Can't say that about California can we?
By the way, how did you know I would be out Wednesday (today)?  Nice call.

03/22/00  hey hows it goin. cool site. i got a question for you all, i was wondering if surfers give body boarders respect. i plan to start bodyboarding in RI and was wondering if i should start getting buff so i can fight for my position in the lineup. i mean do surfers generally look down on body boarders or is it just the occasional jerk whos butt ill have to kick. thanks DZ  <Well D., your letter really cracked me up!  It is good to laugh occasionally while looking at this monitor. Yes surfers generally look down on body boarders, but, that's because they're standing up. :-) There's one sure solution: take off deeper in the wave.>
03/01/00 hey, i took these of m******** in mid feb. thought you might like them...  love your site, i was out there on november 3rd. couldn't explain to my buddies how big it really was until i found your pictures...they still don't believe me. Matthew Amengual  <>
01/18/00  Local North Carolina boy, enjoys quiet walks on the beach, listening to Kenny G, and hitting the surf as hard and often as possible. Just caught my first glimpse of the RIriders website ... most excellent. The waters this way are a little warmer here (low 40's). A group of local old coots and young guns have found the surf yak sport to be great. You can find us at (mindspring.com/~stowehol/ka.htm).
If anyone's heading south, look us up here in Wilmington and we'll do our best to show you some southern hospitality. <Thanks James.  Water in the 40's?  Sounds great from here!  Kenny G is another
matter . . .

01/12/00  Lost Board Report jonathan.severino@bms.com writes:

Yesterday I was surfing Point Judith and I lost my board! My leash broke as I watched my board go over the falls. I swam in to get it, but even with the help of a group of people, it was never found. All I can think is that the off shore winds blew it out to sea. Is it possible to put out the word that that my board was lost? I might have a one in a million chance of recovering it, but I'd like to try.
My board was a 7' fish with a swallow tail. It was made by Fly surfboards and is white with a green graphic that looks like flames. Please call Jon Severino at 203-677-6098.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jon
01/07/99  Howzit? I just had to finally take the time to thank you for this excellent site! I have just moved back home from a six year session in Huntington Beach, Ca to raise my groms and you have made the transition easy for me. The stoke you provide makes it alot easier to travel from my CT home to the surf. I really can't believe how much M****** is like "Old Mans " in San Onofre. I was actually heavy into new skool log riding at HB pier; but waves are waves and "only a surfer knows the feeling." I think we may have even actually met late this fall and if so Hi again! Hope to see you sometime this winter. Just look for a fat ole 37 year old trying to bust backside airs on a Hawaiian printed log. Thanx again and keep chargin'!!!!!!!!!!! Dave <Hi Dave - Thanks for the upbeat note in the middle of a mostly (see 1/5/99 surf report for the bad news) flat spell. Charge on, Bro>
12/03/99  Hey i just wanted to say that your site is really good. The wave predictions and surf reports are actually accurate. Can't say the same for the w***w****'* report. hahaha. Keep up the good work with the pictures. Did you get any film of P****** last saturday evening. It was head high and perfect!!!! Hopefully you did. Thanks. Nate  <Thanks Nate,
No, I didn't get any film but I saw a couple of guys in the distance over at P******. I was out for 3 hours at A****** on 11/27/99 when you were at P******.  Sets were head high and I surfed almost until dark. It was a Perfect Day out there.>
12/01/99  Hey guys!  I've got your website as one of my favorites and check in nearly every day. I now live on the west coast of FL (moved from NE in '90) where the water is warmer but sessions are fewer and farther between. I'm looking forward to sharing surfing with my kids as Santa is bringing them a board this year.  One thing I'm going to teach them, though, is that all this local stuff is a bunch of crap!! You basically won't publicize your favorite spots because you don't want to share them. You love to tell everyone about what a great session you had, but you don't want any competition for the next wave. It's all about sharing the excitement of the sport whether it's you smashing the lip or the guy who's never been there before. I find it hard to believe that if you shared the location of these spots that hundreds of guys would show up at the next hint of a swell. There are always going to be those days when the water is warm, it's a weekend, surf's up, and there's a huge crowd. Everyone should share the stoke when a guy rips a nice wave all the way to the inside on a day like that. In the nearly 15 years that I've surfed, these days were RARE. So do your part to eliminate the localism that has infected this sport for years and share the love of the lifestyle. I'm not saying print a map a your favorite spots, but ease up on the territorialistic rhetoric. I hope someday I can show up at M****** with my kids and not worry about getting treated badly be those who feel that the Great Creator created this break for only a chosen few.  Rick
<Hi Rick - thanks for writing and good job stating your views.  We don't like territorialism either.  You've made a few assumptions about me which are not true but I forgive you!  You are right about one thing: I love having no competition for a wave set.  That's part of why I surf in the winter - less people, higher skilled people and bigger surf
Anyway, most people I directly talk to appreciate my not broadcasting where the surf spots are // others think I should be more specific.  We'll continue to be discrete, and, you're welcome at M****** anytime you want to surf there!   ;-)  >
11/28/99   Hi. I like seeing the surf reports you give. I surf mostly town beach. Just wanted to say thanks and keep up the good work...... peace...... todd............ <......and peace to you Todd>
11/21/99  Thought you might like this pic of a RI Surfdog at Town Beach <Great Photo.  It's up on page 1 as of a few minutes ago.  My dog has talent but he can't surf. You've set a new standard for all of us with water dogs.>
11/14/99:  I'm a surfer from newport in my late 30's and I've noticed there is still a lot of ***** *** d*** l***, p**** p**, on your side <of Rhode Island> , s**, myself, and others on our side. When do you think everyone will bury the hatchet? Its my opinion that everyone has to accept each other for where there from and who they are whether its the groms, superstars or old school guys. I surf when I can and when I surf your way I show respect by not paddling out past everyone or paddling deeper to get one lousy wave. Anyway great site you have!
Adiossssssss.   newport surfer  <hello there Newport (RI)! Greetings from the West! Sounds to me like we could surf together anytime (and maybe have!).  I've seen a lot of "Aggros" out there but it typically comes during the summer in late afternoon when work gets out and especially when there are too many people out at one time. We just love to surf and that's the reason for this web site. In the winter I assume anyone out there knows what they're doing (because of the water temperature) and so we share the vibe and hoots locally>
11/05/99: Hi, my name is Tom C. My Father lives in RI and I surf there. I have surfed and bodyboarded at every break in RI (except R******), and I just want to say that this is the best site on the net. You guys really show just what its like. I just want to say THANK YOU.
Thank you again for the great site. Later Tom <thanks for stopping in and saying hello Tom>
10/29/99:  Hello. I just recently moved here from Austin, Texas. I am working for a prosthetics facility in Warwick. One of our clients told me about how he likes to surf and asked me to try. I am absolutely hooked!. I enjoy the serenity that accompanies my exhaustion after a session of (flailing about the water and trying not to drown). Just thought I'd drop a quick note to say thanks for being here and offering surf info for us.
yours in legs stephen  < good to hear from you stephen. Welcome to RI>
10/20/99:  I came across your site and was blown away.......Water temps in the 30's??? are you crazy? < In my opinion, no ;-) > When the water drops into the 50's around here all complain much.! Keep surfing .....your icy waves look nice but far too cold!! Sometimes Im shocked when I see what people will do to go surfing .....I realize that we are spoiled here in SoCal ...the water is in the 60's and the surf is plentiful. Yes the water is crowded with lots of surfers but there is enough waves to go around...and as you know ....If you got the stoke ..Its all good......Keep surfing !!! Aloha
Larry
10/11/99   Hey, great Rhode Island wave pix! And you did a very good job of not getting too specific about where they are.... <Finally, a gentleman with discernment :-) Ray>
I have been surfing pretty regularly at M****** (usually M*******), ***** *** (l**********, sometimes A***. or &@%<my changes, -Ray>), and N*********** T*** B**** <OK, that last one is an easy one> since 1996, when I returned to the area from San Francisco, where I lived for five years.  Rhode Island has the goods whether it's waves (well, when they come here they go off at least! ;-)), culture, people, vibe, beautiful coast and wooded interior, you name it. That's why I came back to this area, and Mass. and Vermont, etc. Just wanted to thank you guys for the pix and the stoke on the web site.
See you in the water,  -johnw  <look for that black pickup of mine John and say hello some time!>
10/04/99  What's up RI? Buddy and I are coming up from Florida in November in search for some pre-winter surf.. Tired of this Florida 2-3 and slop! Need to get some pinpointers for this trip, any recomendations? Heard N*********** gets some nice swells this time of the year. Water temp. means nothing to us since we are formerly from East Greenwich! Let me know on anything hot that might be building, please! Thanxs, Florida  <will continue to update the surf log this winter for road trips.  -Ray>
9/27/99  I found your site on the web. Nice. I'm on Block Island this weekend for a wedding.  Coming from California and having to depend on others for transport, I won't have any boards.  Is there anywhere to rent a board on this island? If not, any ideas? Thanks Jeff <Have no ideas. Sorry. -Ray>
