While waiting for the swell
 from the remains of Isadore

A quiet Sunday afternoon on the first day of spring.  Sunny, water in the upper 30's (F) and a few locals were out at the Rock for a fun session in mostly clean waist high.  Not the kind of conditions that many photographers spend time shooting in these days of bigger, best, hugest testosterone "in your face" surfing but the kind of conditions that  we often find ourselves with (when it's not flat)!  Nice, quiet, layback, fun, "no penalty for a mistake" kind of surfing. Out with friends and sharing the stoke as the surf season winds down.

I showed up in the afternoon with the camera and shot film for maybe a half hour.  This is a sequence of Fred on one fun sized wave that day.

We have liftoff . . .

approaching the fun

down the line

no problem Mon.  Cruzin.

as always, a little mid trip correction needed . . .

a smooth little cutback and . . .

past the navigation hazard and out onto the nose . . .

and, to finish it off, a little dip to cool down
